Is the amount of collection fees regulated by law?

Strictly speaking, the law does not provide for any upper limit for collection costs at present. However, if a creditor commissions a collection company, this creditor can only pass on costs to the consumer in the amount in which these would be incurred if the creditor had commissioned a lawyer to act on his behalf. The lawyers´ fees are established in the German Lawyers´ Remuneration Act (RVG).
Therefore, we charge compensation based on RVG and the pretaining remuneration table for our collection services.

More information on the calculation of collection costs is provided in the Paigo FAQ under „What legal changes regarding collection fees will take effect in October 2021?
